President Yoon Suk-yeol holds a summit with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda

To strengthen bilateral cooperation in high-tech industries such as laser and bio

held a summit with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda on July 12, on the occasion of his attendance at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit.

 

 

President Yoon emphasized the need to enhance cooperation in advanced industries, including laser technology and biotechnology, between the two countries. 


President Nausėda expressed his agreement and showed a desire to expand cooperation with globally renowned Korean companies in the semiconductor and display industries, particularly showing great interest in Korean-made autonomous weapons systems, which have received positive evaluations from other European countries.

 

President Yoon called for Lithuania's support in sharing Korea's experience and know-how in transforming from the ruins of war into an innovative economic powerhouse, particularly through the 2030 Busan World Expo. President Nausėda acknowledged Busan as an excellent candidate for hosting the World Expo and promised to carefully consider our request.

 

Finally, President Yoon expressed the significance of his first visit to Lithuania as the President of the Republic of Korea and officially announced the decision to establish a Lithuanian Embassy in Seoul (the Lithuanian Embassy in Seoul was opened in 2021) to further enhance the development of bilateral relations between Korea and Lithuania. 


President Nausėda expressed his appreciation for the decision to open the Lithuanian Embassy and expressed hope that mutually beneficial exchanges and cooperation would be further expanded through the respective diplomatic missions in both countries.
