법왕청신문 이존영 기자 | 칠장사 화재로 입적한 조계종 전 총무원장 자승 스님의 영결식이 많은 불교 신도들의 추모 행렬 속에 3일 오전 연결식이 봉행 됐다. 지난달 29일 입적한 자승 前 대한불교조계종 제33代. 제34代총무원장을 지낸 자승스님을 떠나보내는 영결식이 3일 오전 10시 조계종 총본산인 서울 종로구 소재 조계사에서 종단장으로 엄수됐다. 이날 열린 영결식에는 종정 성파스님, 총무원장 진우스님 등 조계종 주요 인사와 한덕수 국무총리 등 정부 인사, 국회 불자모임 정각회 회장인 국민의힘 주호영 의원 등 정계 인사, 한국종교지도자협의회 공동대표를 지낸 김희중 천주교 대주교 등 타 종교인, 불교 신자 등 수천 명이 지켜보는 가운데 열렸다. 조계종 총무원장 진우스님은 "빨리 가고 늦게 가는 차이만 있을 뿐 누구나 때가 되면 가는 것이 자연의 이치"라며 "다만 선지식께서는 우리 모두가 가야 할 길을 먼저 보이신 것일 뿐"이라고 영결사를 했다. 또한 "상월결사 정신을 지속적으로 이어갈 것이며 대화상의 수행력과 유훈이 하나로 결집된 '부처님 법 전합시다'라는 전법포교의 길을 함께 걸어갈 것"이라고 다짐했다. 조계종 중앙종회 의장 주경스님은 "참아보려 해도 밀려오

법왕청신문 이존영 기자 | 서울 조계사 자승스님 빈소에는 아직 한산한 모습을 보이고 있는 가운데 대한불교조계종 총무원장을 지낸 자승 스님의 유서가 추가로 발견된 것으로 전해졌습니다. 조계종 총무원장인 진우 스님은 오늘(1일) 오전 서울 종로구 조계사 대웅전에 마련된 자승 스님 분향소에서 김기현 국민의힘 대표 등을 조문객으로 맞이해 이렇게 밝혔습니다. 앞서 자승 스님은 지난달 29일 오후 6시 50분쯤 경기 안성시 칠장사 내 요사채에서 난 화재로 입적했습니다. 조계종은 스님이 스스로 선택해 분신했다고 판단하고 있다.

종단뉴스 안성 칠장사 요사채서 화재...조계종 전 총무원장 '자승스님 연락두절
법왕청신문 이존영 기자 | 오늘 오후 6시 50분께 안성시 죽산면 칠장사에서 불이 나 안에 있던 스님이 입적한 것으로 추정된다. 화재 진압을 위해 요사채 내부로 들어간 소방당국은 숨진 스님 1명을 발견했다. 불이 날 당시 요사채 안에는 스님 4명이 있었고 이중 3명은 밖으로 대피, 다행히 화를 면한 것으로 파악됐다. 소방대원들은 사찰 요사채에서 불이 났다는 신고를 받고 화재를 진압하던 중 건물 내부에서 시신 한 구를 발견한 것으로 알려졌다. 취재 결과, 숨진 채 발견된 스님은 대한불교 조계종 총무원장을 지낸 자승 스님으로 추정하고 있다. 한편 이날 대한불교조계종 총무원장을 지낸 제33·34대 자승스님이 칠장사를 방문해 요사채에 머물던 중 연락 두절이 된 상태로 알려졌다. 자승 스님은 죽산면에 위치한 아미타불교요양병원의 명예 이사장으로 활동 중이었다. 아미타불교요양병원은 조계종 스님들의 노후를 돌보는 무료 병원으로 지난 5월 개원했다. 자승 스님은 이따금 칠장사에서 머무르곤 했으며, 이날도 칠장사에 찾았던 것으로 알려졌다. 경찰 관계자는 "시신이 완전히 불에 탔기 때문에 신원 확인에 시간이 걸릴 것으로 예상된다"며 "자세한 경위를 조사 중"이라며 사찰 내 폐쇄

인물 “초급장교 임관을 앞두고~!!”
글 : 동신대 군사학과 고다흰 / 육군장교후보생 임관 종합평가를 성공적으로 마무리한 지금, 가슴 한 켠에 약간의 긴장감이 느껴지고 있다. 후보생으로서 너무나 멀어 보였던 ‘소위’, 이제는 곧 소위가 된다는 것이 실감이 나지 않으면서도 새로운 출발에 대한 설렘이 크다. 2020년 막연히 군인이 되겠다는 꿈과 포부를 갖고 군사학과에 입학한 것이 엊그제 같은데, 어느덧 4년간의 치열했던 후보생 생활을 마치고 다이아몬드 소위 계급장을 어깨에 걸치고 야전으로 떠날 준비를 하고 있다. 자랑스러운 대한민국 소위로 임관을 앞둔 지금, 오늘의 내가 있기까지 많은 도움을 주신 감사한 분들이 많다. 첫 번째로 4년간 군인의 꿈을 적극적으로 지지해주시고 나의 모든 선택을 응원해주셨던 부모님과 나를 군인의 길로 이끌어주시며 용기를 주신 현역 장교이신 고모부께 감사드린다. 두 번째, 장교가 지녀야 할 자질을 갖출 수 있도록 도움을 주신 교수님들께 감사드린다. 체력도, 군사적 지식도 부족했던 내가 4년간의 교수님들의 진심 어린 가르침으로 제법 장교로서의 면모를 갖추며 많은 성장을 할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 선·후배 그리고 동기에게도 감사하다. 먼저 야전으로 나가서 좋은 본보기를 보여주
